AVON POLICE RE-ACCREDITATION: PUBLIC INFORMATION SESSION
APRIL 12, 5:30 PM.
ALSOP COMMUNITY ROOM-AVON FREE PUBLIC LIBRARY

A team of assessors from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA) will be in Avon from April 10th through April 13, 2010 to examine all aspects of the Avon Police Department policies and procedures, management, operations, and support services.
Verification by the team that the Avon Police Department meets the Commission’s state-of-the-art standards is part of a voluntary process to gain re-accreditation, a highly prized recognition of law enforcement professional excellence.  The Avon Police Department initially attained CALEA accreditation in 1992, and has maintained it since.

As a part of the on-site assessment, agency employees and members of the community are invited to offer comments directly to the assessors at a public information session on Monday, April 12, 2010, at 5:30 p.m.  The session will be conducted at the Community Room at the Avon Public Library located at 281 Country Club Road.  Persons may also reach assessors by phone on Sunday, April 11, 2010, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at (860) 409-4212, or write to CALEA at 10302 Eaton Place Suite 11, Fairfax, VA  22030-2215.

Questions regarding the accreditation process may be directed to the Avon Police Department’s Accreditation Manager, Lieutenant Christina Barrow at (860) 409-4251.
